The History of Steppin' Stone Farm
Since
1973, the residential program at Steppin’
Stone Farm has been helping bring about lasting change in the lives
of at-risk teenage girls. Founded on “Christ is the Answer”
the Keisers (affectionately known as Grandma and Grandpa) started Steppin’
Stone Farm, Inc. They had a granddaughter who was a constant runaway.
There were no programs in the state of Florida that would take girls who
did not “volunteer” to participate in their programs. True
missionaries, the Keisers worked as co-directors without pay until they
died—Mr. Keiser in 1982 and Mrs. Keiser in 1991. Hundreds
of girls’ lives were saved because of their sacrifice and dedication.
Our present executive director, Cynthia Churchill, was one of those girls.
Rebellious, using drugs, and not attending school, she needed discipline
with love. Churchill’s parents found Steppin’
Stone Farm and gave her another chance. The required minimum year,
spiritual emphasis, work ethic, and counseling provided her the chance
for in-depth change. Since 1991 Churchill has been the Executive Director
and since 1977 has given her life to this program in order to give other
girls the same chance that she had.
