Funding for the Farm

The United Way of America     Steppin’ Stone Farm is a non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt faith-based program. Through donations from churches, civic clubs, individuals, United Way, and various private grants, Steppin’ Stone Farm continues to minister to the needs of at-risk girls and their families. Our huge volunteer support system gives us the opportunity to help many more girls as well as provide positive social interaction. Eighty-six percent of our girls are continuing their formal education and/or employed twelve to eighteen months after completing our program. All of this at no cost to taxpayers since we do not receive any state or federal funding.

If you are interested in investing money, time, or talent to this ministry, please contact Cindy Churchill 813-650-8700 or info@steppinstonefarm.org

Plant Nursery:

A major reason for the success of the program is teaching the girls a work ethic through tending to the various stages of growth in plants and animals. Building upon this aspect and in order to help cover the cost of the Steppin’ Stone Farm program, we have started a plant nursery.

We grow high quality groundcovers—evergreen giant, aztec grass, and minima jasmine—in four inch cells and distribute these plants to local landscapers in the Tampa Bay area as well as out-of-state customers.

Through working in our plant nursery, the girls earn credits for entrepreneurship and horticulture/landscaping. Consider purchasing our plants. We can offer the same quality of product that you are purchasing now and in large quantities. The difference—the result of your purchase will help save the life of an at-risk teenage girl.

Steer and Plant Sale at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City

As part of 4-H some of the girls earn the opportunity to auction steers and plants at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida. Not only do they learn responsibility and team building skills, but also raise money for college scholarships for Steppin’ Stone Farm alumni.
